Skill training opportunities to meet the needs of an increasing sophisticated and technological world

The director of Operation Friendship Dr Webster Edwards has issued a call for Jamaica to move away from the traditional grammar type education system and to focus instead in offering skills training opportunities that will lead to self employment and will meet the needs of an increasing sophisticated and technological world.

Speaking recently in a skills training forum in Kingston, he revealed that In pursuit of this objective, Operation Friendship will increase the opportunities for skills training for urban youths during the year 2012.

Dr Edwards mentioned that a high percent of jobs which are now available require some basic skills. These skills when combined with entrepreneurial training will undoubtedly lead to a new sovereign, skilled and self assured Jamaican, who will have no difficulty in creating a place for oneself in a new world.
